The Opportunity
The Sr. Manager, Franchise Operations, FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) supports the franchise operations (retail) division from a financial analysis perspective. This role is responsible for driving budgeting and forecasting processes and partnering with senior management to support operational decision-making and performance improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and operations, with strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
How You’ll Make a Difference
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Developing financial models for franchise units and overall franchise system performance to support operational planning and decision-making.
- Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for franchise operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and financial targets.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct variance analysis to understand deviations from budget and forecast and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement processes to track and improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Analyzing unit-level economics and profitability metrics
- Evaluating how new store openings drive market share growth, influence new‑store ramp performance, and shift customer demand across the system
Reporting:
- Prepare regular financial reports, dashboards and presentations for senior management, highlighting key metrics and financial performance
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) across franchise locations
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis
- Providing financial insights to franchise operations teams
- Supporting franchisee communications about financial performance
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial planning and analysis activities.
- Implement best practices and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FP&A function.
Strategic Partnership:
- Serve as trusted advisor to franchise leadership and C-Suite, providing data-driven recommendations on growth initiatives and performance optimization
- Lead cross-functional projects linking finance to operations strategy, such as long-range planning and incentive program design
- Evaluating new market opportunities and franchise expansion plans
- Conducting ROI analysis for potential franchisees
- Supporting franchise development with financial projections
- Evaluate assortment pricing and pricing initiatives, with a focus on product‑level profitability.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop a team of finance analyst(s).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with a focus on FP&A, preferably within an operations (retail) context.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience in managing and developing a team.
- Strong skills in financial modeling and use of financial software and data tools (e.g., Excel, S4, SAC, Hyperion, Tableau, Python, Power BI).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of operational processes and metrics.

*In addition to your salary, you are eligible for the Valvoline Incentive Plan (VIP) with a target of x% of eligible base salary earnings. The VIP is based upon Valvoline Inc. financial performance and provides a payout opportunity on an annual fiscal year basis (October 1 through September 30) and will be pro-rated from date of hire.
