How You'll Make a Difference

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity for an SAP Basis Manager. In this role, you’ll oversee the SAP Basis team, ensuring the optimal performance and health of our SAP systems and platforms. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end landscape management, architecture, delivery and on-going operations of the SAP systems and platforms. This role will manage partnerships with SAP and other vendors providing SAP technology and services to control costs, drive service excellence and increase the value obtained from our SAP systems and platforms. Additionally, this role will oversee the implementation of all SAP change management guidelines and ensure compliance with all audit procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are fulfilled.

  • Leads the ongoing maintenance of existing SAP systems and platforms by proactively identifying improvements, identifying and correcting software bugs/defects, performing or coordinating/assisting MSP and vendors with performing upgrades and maintenance activities, and in general, ensuring the systems and platforms are available, stable and perform at a level acceptable to the business needs.
  • Lead and direct the SAP Basis team members and third-party resources by assigning/monitoring prioritized tasks and identifying/resolving issues to ensure all parties are on track with requirements, deadlines and schedules for delivery of the requirements gathering, architectural design, development, testing and implementation of SAP Basis and administration work on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in IT and the business to develop strategies for each SAP product/solution to ensure longevity and innovative technologies are obtainable; creating plans for the fiscal year that will meet short term needs of the business.
  • Oversee implementation of all SAP change management processes and ensure compliance with all audit procedures and ITGC.
  • Assist with managing vendors and spend for enabling solutions and integrations within the SAP systems and platforms. Ensure licensing agreements meet our use cases and are budgeted and managed accordingly.
  • Deliver end-to-end architectural solutions based on business requirements which requires active engagement in all SAP related projects to determine architectural and data requirements.
  • Provides technical expertise (i.e., tactical and operational) on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of SAP technology solutions
  • Implement and standardize processes and best practices (Change Management, DevOps, architecture, integration, etc) for the SAP technology solutions. 
  • Work with IT Leadership Team to determine SAP technology components of the overall IT Strategy and Roadmap
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.


What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration (or higher) in an IT-related field
  • SAP Certifications is a plus.
  • Project Management certification is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in applying information technology solutions in a retail industry.
  • 5+ years (8+ preferred) of leadership experience within IT
  • 8+ years of experience in Systems Administration (SAP Preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with RISE S/4HANA, private cloud, BW4HANA, HANA Cloud, Smart Data Integration, HANA Cloud Connector, SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP CALM
  • Moderate knowledge of networking, identity access management systems, AIX/Linux/Windows operation systems, and database systems (Oracle, HANA, MSSQL).
  • Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud administrative functions
  • Knowledge of OData services and RESTful interfaces.
  • Knowledge of delivery SAP GUI, Analysis for Office and other interfaces to the business.
  • Experience implementing and standardizing SAP change management best practices and processes
  • Ability to roadmap cloud SAP solutions
  • Knowledge of SAP Basis concepts
  • Knowledge of SAP Support model and how to engage SAP Enterprise Support
  • Aptness to deliver most appropriate architectural solution, inside of a hybrid data center model, based on business desires.
  • Ability to efficiently manage a team of resources locally and offshore.
  • Experience managing relationships with multiple Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver stable and high performing systems.
  • Expertise providing information needed to comply with audit requests and key controls within the change management software.
  • Strong communication skills, a demonstrated collaboration mindset and persistence in the face of complex technical challenges are essential
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, lead, coach, motivate and work through others to achieve desired results
  • Ability to manage complexity, think analytically and allocate time effectively between multiple priorities or functional areas
