How You’ll Make a Difference
Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Linux Engineer. We are seeking a Linux Engineer to support and improve Linux infrastructure running primarily in AWS. This role focuses on hands-on Linux operations while emphasizing automation and Infrastructure-as-Code to improve reliability, security, and scalability.
You will collaborate closely with other members of the infrastructure team, the Security teams, development, and DevOps teams in an enterprise environment. Containers and Kubernetes experience is beneficial but not required
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers in AWS
- Build and enhance automation for provisioning, configuration, patching, and remediation
- Use Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Execute Linux patching and vulnerability remediation within defined SLAs
- Participate in incident response and on-call rotation
- Improve monitoring, logging, and reliability of Linux workloads
- Create and maintain documentation and runbooks
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Required:
- 4–7 years of experience as a Linux or Infrastructure Engineer
- Hands-on experience supporting Linux environments in AWS
- Experience with automation or scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or similar IaC tools
- Working knowledge of Git and version control workflows
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Exposure to containers and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure
- Cloud or Linux certifications
- Experience improving monitoring, alerting, or logging
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
