How You'll Make a Difference

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Director, Digital Product. In this role, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of technology products that power retail store operations and enable frontline employees to perform at their best. This role oversees a portfolio spanning store services platforms, workforce/HR technologies, learning and development systems, and employee experience tools. The director partners closely with operations, Central Operations, Franchise, HR, IT, and field leadership to deliver intuitive, scalable, and high‑impact digital solutions that improve efficiency, reduce friction, and elevate the employee and customer experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define a multi‑year product strategy for retail store services and employee‑enabling technologies aligned to enterprise goals.
  • Build and maintain a clear product roadmap grounded in business outcomes, user insights, and operational realities.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize legacy systems, streamline workflows, and introduce new capabilities that improve store performance and employee engagement.

 

Leadership & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Lead and mentor a team of Sr Product Managers, Product Owners, and cross‑functional contributors, fostering a culture of customer‑centricity, experimentation, and accountability.
  • Serve as a liaison between retail operations, Central Operations, Franchise, HR, learning teams, IT engineering, and executive leadership.
  • Lead a team to translate complex business needs into actionable product requirements and measurable success metrics.

 

Product Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee end‑to‑end product lifecycle management—from discovery and prioritization to delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with engineering, UX, data, and architecture teams to ensure high‑quality, scalable, and secure product releases.
  • Drive adoption and change management across thousands of store employees, ensuring solutions are intuitive, reliable, and operationally sound.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor product performance using data, analytics, and field feedback to inform enhancements and future investments.
  • Ensure compliance, accessibility, and operational readiness across all employee‑facing technologies.
  • Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and technology contracts where applicable.

 

Employee Experience & Enablement

  • Champion the digital employee experience across HR, learning, scheduling, communications, and performance tools.
  • Partner with Employee Enablement teams to deliver modern, mobile‑first solutions that support onboarding, training, career development, and day‑to‑day productivity.
  • Ensure store teams have the right digital tools to serve customers efficiently and confidently.

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years leading product teams.
  • Proven success delivering digital products in a retail, store operations, or employee‑enablement environment.
  • Strong understanding of retail workflows, frontline employee needs, and operational constraints.
  • Experience with HRIS, LMS, workforce management, or internal communications platforms is highly valuable.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, manage complex stakeholder landscapes, and drive alignment.
  • Expertise in agile product development, user‑centered design, and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and change‑leadership skills.
