How You’ll Make an Impact
The Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring all aspects of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Tax are captured accurately and timely within Valvoline’s financial statements. In addition, overseeing compliance with tax regulations and filing accurate and timely tax returns for Valvoline. This role requires strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws and regulations, internal controls, and tax technology, as well as exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. In the role, you would be responsible for:
- Managing the preparation and review of tax provision calculations, return-to-provision calculations, workpapers, and supporting schedules/systems based on financial records and internal controls and retention policies.
- Managing all aspects of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes by ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax accounting provisions and balance sheet journal entries.
- Managing tax compliance outsourcing processes, including supporting workpapers and analysis and internal controls and retention policies.
- Researching tax law and accounting guidance changes and tax planning opportunities, providing recommendations to finance leadership.
- Supporting tax controversy, tax audit defense, and tax authority inquiries, providing updates to finance leadership.
- Developing and managing direct reports.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in accounting
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in roles with progressive leadership experience
- Strong tax and accounting technical skills in financial analysis and strong computer skills
- Strong research and communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Products (i.e. Word, PPT, Outlook)
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
What Will Set You Apart
- MBA or master’s degree in accounting
- CPA / Chartered Accountant
- Experience in a public company
- Experienced with ERP systems - SAP/S4
- Advanced knowledge of tax software - OneSource, CorpTax, Vertex a plus
