Job Description
Henley Enterprises, Inc. (and our associated entities) is a privately-owned Franchisee of Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) currently operating over 265 VIOC locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Florida, and California. The company has grown rapidly and projects continued growth moving forward. This is an hourly, hybrid (combination of office and WFH) position based out of the Newton Corporate Office and reports to the Accounting Manager – East Coast.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in all accounting functions, including monthly close, financial statement production, reconciliations and work papers. This role will interact directly with all levels and areas of the organization to explain and maintain financial statements according to generally accepted accounting principles. As part of finance and accounting group, this role with works closely with fellow Staff Accountants, Operations Accountant, and the CFO to implement and refine process and system improvements to take the finance and accounting team and processes to the next level.

- Prepare and posting journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing financial statements according to GAAP.
- Review daily Valvoline purchase orders within the system to ensure receipt matches the invoice
- Collaborate with Store Managers on inventory discrepancies
- Review accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments.
- Analyze cost of sales and ensuring accruals are appropriately made at month-end.
- Review balance sheet accounts and preparing all appropriate audit work papers and reconciliations to support balances and transactions.
- Reconcile balance sheet
- Generate monthly profit and loss statements and other financial reports
- Assist other accounting and finance department members in daily operations and special projects
- Participate in various ad-hoc projects, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
- Multi- entity consolidation/retail experience a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting rules
- Time Management/Organization
- Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, Accounting software.
- Problem solving/analytical skills
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Ethical conduct
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet accounting deadlines
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 0-3 years of progressive accounting or finance experience

- Job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, see, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

- Hybrid work schedule – minimum three days in the office required.
