The Opportunity
Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Market Trainer. In this role, you will support market leadership and the service centers by providing an engaging onboarding experience for our new team members and ensuring a world-class training experience on their journey to Senior Technician. Responsibilities for this role encompass completing new hire documentation and facilitating orientation, tracking employee progress through key milestones in their training plans, follow-up visits at key intervals to ensure training execution, implementation of market-wide training initiatives such as system rollouts, and providing feedback to market leadership related to performance and employee engagement. This role requires a professional with solid communication skills, flawless execution of VIOCs proprietary operating system (SuperPro), and the ability to connect with team members in a way that builds trust.
How You'll Make a Difference
- Visit each new hire at scheduled intervals during their Technician training and then as needed during Senior Technician training. Visits should include discussions with the team member, performance observations, coaching, and a discussion of performance with the trainer/SCM. Check-in calls are required between scheduled visits.
- Facilitate the onboarding experience for new employees by leading a Valvoline-approved orientation that includes completing required documentation (I-9, market-specific needs), arranging uniforms, and preparing the first week’s schedule.
- Track the training progress of all team members from the time of hire through Senior Technician certification to ensure training is completed within the programs' parameters.
- Call each new hire within 3-4 days of their in-store start date to answer questions, check on their first few days of experience, allow them to express any concerns, and provide feedback to determine at-risk employees.
- Execute company-wide training initiatives such as SuperPro process changes and new system rollout training.
- Work with market leadership to communicate in-store training execution concerns, retention needs, high-potential talent to monitor, and at-risk employees.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years as an Assistant Service Center Manager or equivalent experience
- Completion of ASCM training/certified ASCM
- Completion of SCM training (preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Excel, Word)
- Strong communication skills
- Strong writing skills
- Can facilitate groups ranging from 5 to 30 people
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must have full body mobility and be able to twist, turn, bend at the waist, squat, and go up and down stairs
- Must be able to work for extended periods of time with hands above the head while effectively communicating verbally
- Use of various automotive mechanical tools and POS computer system
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
